Manifold in its shape and articulated onto two different levels, the garden of the Domus Comeliana was originally conceived as a ‘Romantic garden’, and designed upon 19th-century aesthetic principles.
It is characterized by tall trees and dense bushes, paired by paths and short stone walls. Unique to this garden are the pentagonal basin flanked by the statue of Venus, niches with busts and vases, the panoramic walkway suspended over the Piazza dei Miracoli, and the orange and palm rows in front of the Medieval city walls.
