There are many ways to support the projects of the Atheneaum Comelianum de Litteris et Artibus, each of which can make the difference. Sponsorship of these projects offers a wealth of opportunities, such as exclusive access to the Domus Comeliana and the opportunity of hosting private gatherings, privileged access to our events, credit and recognition.
Our forthcoming project:
From Domus to Domus
Distinguished American artist Linda Karshan, President of the Athenaeum Comelianum, has destined her own exquisite collection of artworks and books to the Domus Comeliana. These stunning works on paper and rare volumes are to be shipped from her elegant London apartment to the Presidential Suite and the Bibliotheca of the Domus Comeliana respectively. Your contribution would assist us in navigating this strategic transition, further enhancing the international appeal and prestige of our research centre.
Friends of the Bibliotheca Comeliana
A polymath and a polyglot, Professor Marcello Comel, founder of the Institutio Santoriana Fondazione Comel, assembled a unique collection of rare books and volumes centred on the medical humanities. In turning an entire floor of his prestigious 19th-century villa into a Bibliotheca, he pursued a long-lasting legacy in the field of the studia humanitatis. In addition to Comel’s bibliographical corpus, the Karshan gift broadens significantly the range of research venues represented, with a special focus on Western Drawing, Italian Renaissance and Modern American Art. There are various opportunities to support this project, ranging from book donations to the launch of our online catalogue. The Friends of the Bibliotheca Comeliana will be acknowledged in a dedicated hall of the historical building.
Exhibition Support
The programme of the Athenaeum Comelianum seeks to reach a large and international audience. In line with Professor Comel’s philanthropic vision, our exhibitions and cultural initiatives are free and open to all. Sponsorship in this crucial area includes an array of options, such as becoming a major or technical sponsor, or a donor for smaller and focused installations. Each of our donors will be fully acknowledged, and will enjoy a number of exclusive benefits, prestige, and visibility.
Conservation Heroes
Throughout his long and successful career as scholar and professor of medicine, Marcello Comel commissioned and acquired remarkable artworks. His collection, focused on 19th and 20th-century Italian Art, will be exhibited for the first time at our forthcoming show Legacies and Visions. From Comel to Karshan. By adopting an artwork from the permanent collection, our donors ensure its preservation for future generations, while also favouring its inclusion in our educational and research projects. Conservation Heroes will be acknowledged in the credit line of our permanent labels, as well as in the exhibition catalogue and signage. They will also benefit from a number of exclusive opportunities including private and curated viewing of the art collection, and privileged access to our events.
Research and Education Support
The Athenaeum seeks to establish itself first and foremost as a space devoted to the exchange of ideas, inclusive and accessible teaching, research and enlightened networking. Our vibrant and diverse programme aims to reach a wide audience, bringing together experts, enthusiasts and the deeply curious in all fields of the arts and letters. Your generous support could fund our scholarship opportunities, or be directed to a specific activity such as symposia or lecture series.
